Languages
The Arab International Academy places strong emphasis on empowering students in both Arabic and English as the two primary languages of instruction, while also providing opportunities to learn a third language, French or Spanish. Students in Grades 6 to 10 study Mathematics and Science in English, while continuing to learn the three languages at levels appropriate to their abilities and diverse linguistic backgrounds. In Grades 11 and 12, students study all subjects in English in preparation for the International Baccalaureate examinations, which are administered in English.
History is taught in either Arabic or English, depending on the student’s mother tongue. The Academy places particular importance on this subject due to its central role in shaping identity, strengthening a sense of belonging, and developing a deep and critical understanding of the past. At the same time, the study of history broadens students’ perspectives, enhances their understanding of other societies and cultures, and fosters respect for cultural diversity.
In line with this vision, the Academy has developed a World History curriculum for Grades 6 to 10, delivered in Arabic or English, depending on the student’s native language. This curriculum achieves a carefully considered balance between strengthening students’ sense of identity and promoting thoughtful engagement with the wider world.
