Approaches to Learning
At Arab International Academy, we believe that deep learning occurs when students develop strong thinking tools, rather than relying solely on memorization. For this reason, Approaches to Learning (ATL) are placed at the heart of the educational process, ensuring that research, organization, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills become part of students’ daily practice.
By integrating visible thinking strategies, we create learning environments that enable students to make their thinking visible, track its development, and build deeper understanding through reflection and analysis. Teachers also employ project-based learning to connect knowledge to real-life contexts, enabling students to engage in meaningful tasks that foster creativity and encourage responsibility.
Storytelling is used as a powerful pedagogical approach that expands imagination and brings concepts closer to students’ lived experiences. Through stories, students are given space to think, ask questions, and construct knowledge in meaningful and relatable ways. Lessons are guided by open-ended inquiry questions that spark curiosity, invite exploration and experimentation, and give students ownership of their learning.
Through these approaches, the Academy builds a learning environment in which the student is at the centre of learning; where a passion for knowledge is nurtured, a flexible mindset and open spirit are developed, and students grow into lifelong learners equipped to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
